Default Ship Identification...

As i absorb the many lessons and tactics on this great forum, it seems that I keep finding new ones that require additional explanation from my fellow Kaleuns.

I am working with a WO who is kind enough to identify my targets for me, but I feel that as Captain of U-33, i should be able to do the same without hesitation.

My problem is twofold:

1. Let's say sonar detects a warship and I raise my periscope, my first obstacle is that many times the ship is either too far or it's too dark for me to see which flag he's sailing under, and so I don't know which page to turn to.

2. when dealing with merchants, i don't understand the order in which they've been entered into the manual. It's a real pain having to flip pages constantly in both directions without knowing exactly which one to turn to. this is even worse when stalking convoys and trying to determine drafts for magnetic torpedos.

I know someone has a simple and obvious solution , so I await your words of wisdom before rejoining patrol #3..
