Is there a way to change the speed of silent running

what file (if any) can I edit to change the speed of silent running?

I think silent running automatically sets to ahead slow (which, from what I can tell is hardcoded). You can slow this down by editting the .cfg data/submarine/"your submarine type"/
eg: IXC:
[EngineProperties]
AllStop=0.00
AheadSlow=0.40 change to 0.30 for 2kts
AheadOneThird=0.57
AheadStandard=0.80
AheadFull=0.94
AheadFlank=1.00
BackSlow=-0.26
BackStandard=-0.40
BackFull=-0.53
BackEmergency=-0.66

Alternatively, you can just adjust your speed to 2 kts for silent speed manually like I do, you get used to it.

The most important to check for silent running is that you engines RPM are not above 100. This is why I sometimes go down to 1 knt in hot situations.

Go into your command-room, and right-click on the Chief Engineer...this will put yourself in his position.
Now turn to the right, and see the 2 rpm-dials high up.
Study the scales, and remember where the 100rpm position is.
Now you are able to read the dials, when in your default Kaleun-position again.
