Default GWX Sub out of water

Using GWX, 23 DEcember update and SH3 Commander 2.7:

October 1940 started a new patrol in Taranto...

When I started my sub "spawned" on a hilltop beside the harbour

I reloaded just to be sure but it seems the spawn point is wrong.

I took a pic but I don't know how to include it.

I hen reloaded and bto an earlier save and went round the coast to Bari - same result!

Regards

Vermin

That sounds strange. Post a screenshot if you can. The way to do it is (taken by Dowly's message in the Unofficial screenshot thread)

Instructions to take and post a Screenshot
1. Take screenshot by pressing CTRL+F11
2. Change the Screenshot to .jpg and resolution to 640x480
3. Go to www.imageshack.us and host the image there
4. Copy the "Direct link to image" url
5. When you want to post it here, make it look like this:
"" whitout those " "

Have you tried to launch torpedoes ? Will they just fall on the ground ?

The most strange thing is that there isn't a flotilla based on Taranto :hmm:
Maybe you where abducted by a USO...

I took my VIIC through the Straits of Gibralter in July 1940 so I could have some fun in the Med in the Balkan campaign (helping the Italians before the Germans got involved! )

Same thing in Durres too - except I was closer to the water then. The boat self destructs in about 10 seconds rolling about on the ground.

Here is a pick in Vlore (Thanks Melnibonian) - my next try at a safe berth!

i AM SORRY HABBUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH BUT I CANNOT STOP LAUGHING,.

Sa, basically your boat spawns on a hill near the water,...and it starts rolling on the slope towards the water....poor Bernard,,,,and takes the damage. Maybe your ship is brand new, and it is a nice way to launch it just let it drop like that until it reaches the water.

Its because you have docked at a port where no flotilla is based
The port isnt set up to launch patrols from
Hence you started on the ground

I thought you could seek refuge in any neutral/friendly harbour and start the next patrol from there. There is no flotilla based at Tobruk but that port is okay (you start in a nice berth at the jetty with the bow pointing seawards) - so is there another explanation?

Here I am in Tobruk...:

Now if I could get some rollers under my U-boat I might be able to get it to the water - unfortunately it just rolls from left to right until it expires!

Some ports are lucky enough to be in the right place
Other start in the right place but there is also a ship there :rotfl:
Others you start on land

Do you still have a save at Taranto ?

Lots of holes in the hull!

@Bigboywobbly: I do have a Taranto save - do you want me to post a pic or send the file?

The positioning issue makes me think I have been relatively lucky in the past.
