allthough this isn't in the game it wasn't a smart thing to do water running by the torp at high speed with doors open would spin the arming mechinizim and than a wave hit ---boomm is this true?

Thats why there was a safety feature on the pistol..it needed a running distance of atleast 250m.So it would not arm with the winding of the contact pistol alone, it needed both the engine and the winding of the contact pistol before it would arm. No captain would have a primed engine running whilst in the tube.

IIRC the impellar had a 'resistance factor' built into it's design so that it couldn't turn until the eel was travelling faster than 'X' knots (almost certainly faster than the boat could achieve underwater)
