I was thinking about the video of the hull interior with the crew at stations.
It occurred to me that in WWII US Submarine crews were predominantly of English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh or German extraction--in other words Anglo-Saxon types. It would be nice if some of the crew were red heads or fair haired, pale skinned, and maybe pug nosed, and not totally drawn from E. European facial types but instead represented a cross section of national origins as one might have found at the time. I suspect the ratio of Dornins and Callahans to Popescues in the submarine service was about 500 to 1. ![]() Cordially, Fritz Wagner |
