S!
Hard to say without knowing your area of operations. In my NYGM 2.2 career, (Sep 1939- Dec 1940) aircover around british isles seemed to be quite effective. My boat sighted and/or was sighted aircraft(s) 22 times, from these, attacks happened 18 times during 8 patrols (7 times boat was damaged more or less, once almost fatally). Usually, attacks took place between Faroes and Shetland or SE of Shetland. Now it's autumn 1941 and first air attacks just happened in Bay of Biskay during outbound from Lorient base with IXC. But, like Erich Topp once said: "Either you are lucky or you aren't. It's no good being overcautious if you want to be successful."
