Default A newby question

I tried my first single mission last night and got my lawn mowed by a fast moving Destroyer. We need to pray for 49 souls who were brave enough to go to sea with a Dumkoff. On the lighter side I am going back to the academy. With Christmas coming up my wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas. How much RAM do I need to tekll her to get me to run GW without screen glitches?

I wouldn't run and XP gaming machine without anything less than 512MB. Get 1GB even if it's not remotely possible. Sell stock, sell a kid, don't eat for a week, whatever it takes. You really really want at least a gig of RAM.

Bunkerrat, where are you ! ! ! :p BR has probably the most awesome rig setup, maybe he could offer some good ideas.

You might also want to finish that Honey-Do list and score some decent brownie points. I wish I had a woman to help support my serious SH3 habit :rotfl:

Uh Oh !!! I've been cursed with the Navy Dude, AAHHHHH ! ! ! Time to spam and hijack your thread.

1 gig is recommended. I can skimp by quite nicely with 512 but 1 gig is what everyone suggests as a minimum.

I am playing GW with 512MB and I don't have any problems. The game gets a bit choppy and slow in harbours but otherwise it's fine. Obviously 1GB or more would be great but in my case it cannot be done I just hope that I will not have any problems with GWX:hmm:

I believe GWX will be adding more mods/tweeks but overall the program should remain the same as far as demand on the CPU. You can always ask on the mod forum!

Thanks for the reply. I really hope this is the case. I guess in a few days I'll find out if I can play GWX or I must spend my savings on a new computer

1GB will suffice....I use 2GB on my rig because I sometimes have torrents downloading at the same time...there are always other dynamics to consider too, such as graphics card etc. Everything eventually boils down to what demands you put on your rig
