I know killing neutral or friendly units gives you negative renown.
How about damaged boat, reduced hull, dead crewmembers or bringing torpedoes back home, will any of these give you negative renown as well? |

They shouldn't. The safety of the crew was more important than how many torps were fired or how many ships sunk until the last frantic weeks of the war really.

Yes, but I later found out that a damaged boat reduces your renown. Fair enough, you should be awarded if you manage to bring your crew and boat home undamaged.

Well you should look this way...
Admiral Donitz, gives you a sub, and you're responsible for ya crew and the boot... If you bring ya crew back alive, no biggie. But if your boot is damages by depthcharges, your boot have to be fixed(and that cost renown)... |

I don't think there's anything wrong with returning with torpedoes. There were many, MANY unsuccessful U-Boat patrols.

As far i can remember, in SHII and even in SHIII, i always finish my torps, than send a message to BDU and they send a message back with "COME HOME"....
Otherwise i could(what i think) negative renown when you come home with torps... |

The damage reduces renown, but not sure about the torps. But it sound weird gettin punished for taking ammo back to base, torps, flak ammo and deck gun ammo. Besides this happened a lot during the war, don't think taking back torps reduces renown. |

I don't get that. I read that as meaning at least 24 hours in the patrol grid. I usually stay there until I'm low on fuel. Other people do the 24 hours and then go looking for trouble elsewhere. I know of no rule that says "stay in grid for 24 hours and then go home".

You can go hunting anywhere you want, and stay out there until you are out of torps or low on fuel. You don't have to complete the mission, but reaching the grid gives you 500 renown, and staying there for at least 24hrs gives you another 100. |
