Norwegian Escort 2 Issue

Hi.
Yesterday i managed to get the mission completed , return to base badge , but not before a sneaky corvette , had come mysteriously from a different direction , that did not show on soundings , until it was attacking the convoy , needless to say the troop ship/cargo ship was sunk , i had no choice but to attack this corvette , from the surface using my deck gun , and i only had 39 shells to use , as my orders where to protect the convoy AT ALL COSTS , good job i am good with the deck gun , and the corvette was not , i managed to sink it , to my surprise it said i had acheived my mission , if the convoy had moved towards Bergen , instead of staying put on the norwegian coast , i might have been able to stop the corvette sinking the freighter/troop ship , to my thinking if troop ship is sunk then mission as failed , go figure , this uboat on this mission was in my opinion flawed.
