Sunk ships not credited
Hi all,
I sunk a medium cargo and a granville freighter and didn't get the renown for it. There was also no sunk ship symbol on the map, and I even watched them go under.... Any ideas why that is, or what I did wrong? Thanks for looking !

As long as we can rule out them being sunk by rough seas or the Luftwaffe or such, only one other thing comes to mind. Had you sunk these types of ships earlier in the patrol? There's a thing where the game sometimes re-spawns stuff that you've sunk previously, and the second time you sink them you don't get the credit. It's rare but sometimes happens. Best I can think of.

it could be "ghost ships" - the ships that you sunk before but they respawned and you sunk them again. You can recognize them that they are on the same course.
Even a part of convoy can respawn like this. This feature is quite annoying (and waste torpedoes as well). No credit awarded can also happen if enemy will finish your damaged target (kill-stealing).

Well that's frustrating, but it appears to be the case here. Thanks everyone !! And thanks for the welcome back

yeah, I call them "ghost ships", because they should be on sea bottom already.
(not sure if they have any name here already) I guess they still can kill you if they are armed...

Not sunk enough
In addition to the "ghost ship" thing it is possible to sink a ship in shallow water and find it has not sunk far enough to count. No doubt the crew are hiding underwater "Robin Hood style" breathing through drinking straws waiting for an opportunity to pump the water out and re-float the ship.

yes, but this can be solved with enough extra damage. Not sure if it ever happened to me, I guess that ammo bunkers / fuel tanks explosions prevented this probably a lot
