The Stock game sends out too many planes. Refer to Webster's
Webster's Better Air Patrols for a quick and easy way to alter the Stock game. Just remember that those pilots that show as downed do "drift", and that the reports of their locations might be very old. Also, you do not get credit for any rescued pilots that are picked-up outside the designated zone. You can still pick them up, but you only get the points for the actual Survivor renown (150) and not for an Objective completion.
