It just dawned on me, since gas prices have gone down significantly since the end of the chart, does that mean that the "Monkey Safety Act" was the reason? If so, I propose we have a "Whale Safety Act" enacted. Since whales are humongous compared to monkeys, the cost of gasoline should go back down to about where it was when I started driving (about 35 cents/gallon).
