Ernst Klapp, U-105, is Balz's cousin
As I reported last week, my game wouldn't start. Being a total dimwit with computers, I tried starting a new career. Game loaded ok. Don't know about Balz, will try loading him again later.
Now we have Lt.z.S. Ernst Klapp who arrived in Lorient on 01 October 1940 and took command of U-105 (IXB).
"Bernard reporting for duty, Herr Kaleun." The scruffy-looking Fahnrich z.S. almost punched his eye out as he saluted.
"Balz told me he was sacrificing himself and was giving me one of his best officers. What's your claim to fame?"
"I am the best coffee ground counter in the Royal Navy."
Klapp frowned. "Royal Navy?"
"I mean Kriegsmarine, I get them confused at times."
"Confused? In the Royal Navy they speak English, have tea with their bangers and sing God Save the King."
"I'm good at saying Wasserbomben. In German." Bernard said.
"Very good. I think Balz cannot do without your talents go back to U-124."
"But, my uncle Karl said to come here."
"Is Doenitz your uncle?"
"My parents are Admiral Doenitz's cousins."
"Both of them?"
"Yes,Herr Kaleun."
Klapp scratched his head
"I have a father and a mother," Bernard said, smiling broadly.
After working up for two months. Ernst Klapp thought his crew was ready to become front line. On 01 December 1940, U-105 sailed with a crew 0f 43 men.
Bernard had offloaded all the steam torpedoes and then put them back aboard.
