If the ship is sailing away from you, let's say at 6 knots or faster, it will take longer for the torpedo to reach the target and it needs to cover a longer distance and it will arm at approx 200 meters, I often do 200 meter shots when in fog. Get behind the target, match its course and let him have a magnetic shot. It will explode near the bow and sink it.
