At the very least, if people want to go mod-crazy with 1.4, do so with the knowledge that things may not go quite as expected, and certainly not as they went with 1.3. If things turn out to be FUBAR'd, don't go blaming Ubisoft, the patch devs, the modders or anyone - anyone - but yourself. Be an adult, realize you experimented at your own choice, and just deal with it (reinstall or whatever).

I started throwing mods at 1.4 within about an hour of it's release - just to see what did seem to work, or not. I had copied my entire 1.3 installation to another drive first, as well as all my user SH4 folders. So I jumped on 1.4 just to enjoy the ride :p And yes, I did end up doing a couple of clean installs because of it (but I'd pretty much expected that).

You play with fire, you get singed a bit - but you don't run around crying about it.
