I didn't even know until I read it here recently that you could adjust the speed lower than the "slow" setting.

Once I found out, I now routinely manually set revolutions for 1 knot when silent running. I have had much better luck escaping escorts since then.

I do the "wiggle waggle" that has been described. Flank speed to escape maximum depth, cut power to revolutions for 1 knot, alter course 20 degrees and drift.
The Wiggle-Waggle does work! Do you find the escorts often don't even get close to you now?
