From Grrr to Eternity

Awright Kaleuns, time to post your most agravating moment not involving Bernard. Here's Mine:

March 1940. 8th day of patrol out of Lorient. No ships, no sound contacts. Smooth seas going to waste for my gunners.

Report of warship heading SE. I see that if it remains on course I can intercept. Zoom at 16 knots, arrive at intercept point. Within an hour: sound contact. A few minutes later, we sight a destroyer. Clear the bridge! Down to PD. Seas are smooth one hour before sunset.

Periscope reveals a task force. DDs all over the place. Revenge and Rodney heading straight for me. I penetrate destroyer screen undetected but can't maneuver to favorable firing position (AOB 10 degrees).

Fire two magnetics at Rodney from 400 meters. No explosions.

No one pays attention to my murderous intent. Rodney and Revenge sail by 200 meters on each side of me.

What can I say. Wish them a bon voyage?
At least got a couple of screenies of the mighty battleships, will send them to Uncle Karl for his birthday.
