ain't that the truth. my biggest mistake was getting bored enough to try raiding a port in Florida in my IXC. Can't remember which port exactly but I think it was Miami. When I saw that "most" of the units guarding the entrance were MTBs, which don't have hydrophones, I figured it would be easy. Then the four-stackers showed up...
The problem with attacking ports isn't that the water in the harbor is shallow, it's that the water around it is too!
Another major mistake of mine: Bothering to sail to New Zealand waters. Even in Fifi's excellent NYGM, which has a great campaign, there wasn't very interesting traffic there. I do think going to the Far East in general has its moments. But the trip from Penang to the Cook Strait just isn't worth your time.
