Facing the GREATEST Military Power in the World at that time?
The people (Sorry Jim) whooped British arse!
The Brits tried it again in the War of 1812 and AGAIN got sent home.
AGAIN the Greatest Military Power in the World at that time!

To be the Greatest does not mean you win.
Japan had no serious plans to invade the USA. They knew they would never pull it off!
Germany tried to get Mexico on board to attack us. Refusing to do that is probably why Texas doesn't extend to Panama.
