I can not find my source again but I read in Type VIIC manual that undamaged u boat will not receive almost any damage to the pressure hull if DC explodes more than 5-6m away. This range increases with depth in real life of course so I used something like 6-10m in Wolves IIRC, depending of DC type. Anyway, if DC explodes 1m from you, you will be blown out of the water...If not, than something is wrong with your installation...
