Been there, done that in New Jersey for three years (70's); no power steering in those days. For sheer aggression though, getting a reefer of strawberries into lower Manhattan across the GW, Verrazano or Bayonne bridges thru Staten Island is no joke. Your poor co-driver doubles as 'waist-gunner' lookout- they'll steal the freight while your waiting on the light. As lead driver; you start at Philipsburg on the PA boarder all the way across Jersey; the price of being in command of the rig. The # 2's energy and skills are saved for the open road when the PA line is recrossed westbound...and to make the log sheets look good (legit) on the three day trek from sunny California.

Sounds like the Oakland-San Francisco commute, considered the worst in the nation I-80 in or out at either end of the interstate: at SF or New York. I've done 'em all every day for 30 years. I can't decide which is worse. The cabs and Metro are so good in London- its not worth the headache to find out. We need to work on that in this country. BART on the west coast or the infamous subways of Brooklyn and the 4 other boroughs of the 'big apple'! Boston, Chicago, LA and New Orleans were equally grim.
