I think this is Convoy JW55B

That is correct, Raptor.

Originally, Scharnhorst was driven off by 3 RN cruisers - KGV with a task force was laying low in the background in expectation of the German raid. The German destroyers split early as the weather was too bad for them.

I recommend this scenario, there is lot of entertainment if one looks up above the surface. Scharnhorst is impressive! This time a certain U-boat sank the RN cruisers as Scharnhorst was arriving so he got a free ride through the convoy. What a massacre! He wasn't undamaged, though, dozens of merchants gave him all they had from all directions.

Eventually, he disappeared southwards as a message arrived informing that KGV was arriving from south-west.
