I've come across another little gem of a museum, this one about 10 mins from Hannover airport.
Luftfahrtmuseum Hannover-Laatzen (Hannover Laatzen aviation museum) has about 30 aircraft which tells the tale of German aviation. There are also models of just about every German aircraft you can imagine and a load of other exhibits such as engines, uniforms and an 88mm flak.
It was originally set up by the owner of a local haulage firm and is still privately owned and the owner took part in an expedition to recover four Ju52 which had sunk in a Norwegian lake during WW2 when the ice melted - one of these was restored to pristine condition with the remainder either being cannibalised to create the pristine one or exhibited as parts.
