I gave up in the end n just wrote those ships off as torp wasters. lol Shame cause they come in at 10,000 ton

I cant see why other than you are running into big tankers not loaded with fuel or ammo but just freight. They are large, modern, well built tanker ships. I have learned that two factors affect a ship, crew settings(poor to elite) and what cargo they are carrying(tankers can carry internal cargo of fuel, freight, or ammunition) I am thinking you are running into tankers loaded with freight and set at vet or elite.
Also, are you losing contact then regaining contact? A bug in the game is if you damage a ship, get out of contact range for long(long enough for them to resume normal sailing, no zigging etc) the damage does not hold over, its like a new ship respawns. Example, in the south china sea near Parcell Islands in 1944 I attacked a tanker convoy I added(since game has little to no traffic in this vital singapore-japan shipping lane) and attacked, I fired six fish 2 10,000 tankers, 3 each.Three hit one ship, she exploded into a fireball, no doubt loaded with fuel coming from singapore(i make all home bound tankers have fuel as they should) but randomly they have higher and lower crew settings, supposed second target had a skilled crew because she made a hard starboard turn and two fish missed but one hit her bow, blowing it off practically, starting a major fire in the bow area.I was forced to go to 300 feet to avoid the escorts.Surfaced after 4 hours of heavy depth charging, raced ahead of the convoy, losing radar contact for an hour then regaining contact, i moved far enough out of the range convoy resumed normal sailing.I went for a night surface attack. I fired four fish from 4,000 yardS(forced to fire further due to heavy escort screen) , two hit, leaving her damaged. After I got away, I used to external cam to look over to tanker, her bow was like brand new, seen this before. So its possible youre just running into tough targets. Now, with volatile cargo like fuel, they usually go up in flames, even the big tankers with two well placed hits.
Now, if this is wrong, perhaps some mod is the culprit, did you reinstall sh 4? or just the mods? If just the mods, may need to get a clean install of SH 4.
