I post a thread I thought was very interesting about a remake of a American Civil War Sub which I thought might be of interest. This IS a submarine topic.

All goes well until someone insults a whole region of the country by inserting data which had nothing to do with the post's intent. I did not for a moment get the impression he was saying it in light humor.

And yes, IMO he WAS being a troll in the last part of his post. My post had nothing to do with who won or lost a war fought over 150 years ago, and there was no insult on my part of anyone from the north or south.

Excuse me--NOT. I stand firm on my position.
Seriously, do not play innocent here as that article itself was highly inflammatory. It's theme was "look at all them northern idiots for freaking out over a civil war sub, are northerners and the government dumb or what.".

Hate to break it to many of you, but lots of people have no idea what the Hunley is or care. It sounds like one motorist was concerned and called it in, and that law enforcement checked up on it. Not everyone is into submarines, just as I am sure there are a lot of subjects each of us are totally ignorant about, and could be made to look like total morons about too.

As for law enforcement specifically, do you think they got a detailed enough description to identify the object as being a sub from this person, or a photograph? I highly doubt they did. Also I am sure there are plenty of law enforcement who know little about submarines. Plus they are obligated to investigate anything that is at all suspicious (particularly as terrorists do use all kinds of creative methods of attack).

Anyhow I am watching this thread, so I suggest everyone back off from the various hostilities going on in here.
