Worth mentioning here is the career of Leo Major of the Canadian army in WWII.
This man singlehandedly captured something like 180 German prisoners in two separate engagements, and god knows how many he killed. In the latter, he drove the SS out of the city of zwolle *by himself*. Oh, and he did it after having lost an eye just days after the invasion of france.
His reward for all of that?
A DCM and a promotion to corporal. Frankly, this man should have been given the VC twice over and a spot promotion to general just for his gigantic balls of steel.
