Crossing the North sea in one of those must have taken courage and then some, and the same engine as a London bus!
They had such a short range under their own power meaning they were usually towed to the vicinity of their targets by a mother vessel (submarine) and the crew would rotate from towere to towed to benefit from as much rest as possible.
