The USS Seawolf was in Portsmouth at the time undergoing repairs (Jan 1968 to March 30th 1969) She was not in the Pacific at the time.

You are thinking of the USS Swordfish, she returned to Japan with only minor dent in her sail and a bent scope. A Japanese newspaper took photos of her entering port.
