Well, 118 aircraft were shot down by u-boats
http://uboat.net/history/aircraft_losses.htm and 250 u-boats were sunk by aircraft
http://uboat.net/allies/aircraft/. If aircraft average 10 crew and u-boats average 50, then u-boats brought down 1180 Allied airmen and the Ubootwaffe lost 12,500 to aircraft (not counting survivors of course). I'd say shooting down more than one airplane in an engagement is unrealistic, and even taking on one should be a bad idea.
