I can run you through how to do it if this is the case but don't try and do it yourself as you could screw your Windows. I've done it in order to run the full MFM mod but whether I can strap the interiors on as well I haven't tried although it worked with the interiors without the MFM. There's just a limit as to how far you can push SH3 within the limits of a 32bit OS.

Even with the 4gb patch the OS itself can't understand how to deal with any memory that execeeds the 4 gb (i.e. having 6 gb installed); while it may help the OS run better SH is still going to use the same resources anyways (granted having more memory and better video makes better use of your hardware as opposed to relying on software). Most 32 bit programs can only use at most (generally speaking) 2gb of memory for itself.
Reasons for getting CTD's are too numerous to try and even count, so many little things can completly corrupt your savegame withough ever being aware of them, like a ship being only 10km away with moderate visibility (enough that your watch can't see it) will likely cause a CTD if/when you try to load that savegame.
If you have taken any hull damage at all (even if its just 0.1%) it increases your chances for a CTD. Savegames with 100% hull integrity seem to be a lot more stable than others under any kind of circumstances.
