I guess what I'm looking for in SH5 is to be a greatly upgraded and improved version of SH3.
This was the reason of the majority of the criticism at release. Not the dumb AI nor the unfinished state of the sim part, but "omg, where is the lock ship button and the dials from the UI, jizaz craist... where is the teleport button, how I suppose to get up in the con tower?!11?"

SH5 is very different and I agree with those who said that the devs had in mind to build the ultimate u-boat sim, but they got short with the time and budget.. so they finished only the n00b friendly part, the rest is a big mess. But with mods that fix tons of bugs, this can still be played as a sim. And the sim part is just brilliant and hardcore. Those who played SH3 without "lock target" should love SH5 now. At least I do and I'm very addicted...more than I was for WoW.

The noob version with "lock target" is replaced now by "align the dots, shot &lol" which suck badly. At least in SH3 those who played casual had the feeling that they play a sim and they are doing things the right way with the "help" of the officers/crew and by clicking with the mouse on dials on the UI. Tbh, in SH5 the casual part is designed more for retards/slow people.. or I think they had in mind to bring in the game kids, more fresh blood.

Bottom line, the noob version is too easy to play and you will get bored soon, the sim part is hard and you need to spend a LOT of time to find the right addons that fixes the bugfest from this part. My personal advice for you, stick with SH3 and GWX.
