LOL@ Armistead, well played sir.
1.In TMO 1.7 I was at 650 feet in a Tench class in Summer 1945 in the Sea of Japan.Just sank three ships in a convoy, four escorts on me, ideal sonar conditions, mustve been their A team, even for TMO, they stayed on me.Had to go to 715 feet to get away.A depth charge exploded close enough at 650 feet to damage some pumps, bow planes, compressor.disable 4 of 6 bow tubes.Lucky didnt do any hull damage.
2.715 feet I believe was the deepest I went and lived to tell about it.
3.Worse damage was a long time ago in TMO but like Armistead, was given a new boat(well new to me, went from a Gato to a Porpoise class) had 90% hull damage with basically all major systems wrecked except propulsion somehow.
4. Eh hard to remember but think it was a convoy in TMO, ran into a convoy in 1944 in Formosa Straits, wanted to damage as many as possible like I had just read in O Kanes book Clear the Bridge!, so hoped for best and fired two torpedos for each target, which was 2 medium and one large tanker.Luckily they were all filled with fuel and blew up just fine, so three important tankers down with 6 fish

.Most ships other than small ones require more than that unless they have volatile loads on board, luck was with me.
