Whats up with Bernard Jokes?
 

Hey all, I've been playing SH3 with 1.4 p for about 8 months now, And I pop up on this website from time to time to see whats going on, when SH4 will come out, and to read all the great reads that people post. But one Thing I don't get is why everyone makes fun of Bernard? Are you guys talking about a helmasman that costs 4oo renown?

Or is it some kind of insdie joke that I havnt heard yet? I was just really curious because I see maany topics where he is mentioned.

Oh yeah, and the best part of SH4 for me will be ACTUALLY WINNING the war. That way you don't feel like all your effort was for nothing:up:

Bernard is the Salior who we all blame what goes wrong on. Air attack with no warning?? blame Bernard, Your boat rams the dock when sailing off to war? blame Bernard.:up:

He's the fall guy for anything that goes wrong.

Who will the feall guy be for SHIV?? Gomer Pile???:doh:

Bernard is a generic name for that guy on the sub no one likes and keeps screwing up. :)

If anything has gone wrong, you know Bernard was behind it!

As the 'mother&Father' of Bernard, I even have a face skin for him in my boat. It´s not ready yet, but in alpha stage. :rotfl:

I might add, that Bernard is a very very typical English name - which is why I think it became the brunt of a lot of German sub humor.

Sort of the same thing, I believe, with Jerry-Rigging and Jerry jokes on that little island in the Atlantic.

If you find a German named Bernard, there is an unfortunate fellow indeed, you probably won't see one on a sub. You probably won't find too many londoners named Fritz either, or none that will admit it. :lol:
