The end of my second Campaign, to early
 

Well my second campaign just ended, its partly my own stupididy and partly do to the area i was in.... I had just finished my 8th patrol and having found no ships to sink i thought i'd station outside of scapa flow and since a couple warships, well i got close and found one a nice hunt 1 destroyer patroling, well I lined up my shots and let them rip... 2 TII electric eels... evade... evade (btw how in the name of Zues did he see them)... then the fun began I brought me boat to 40 meters, the most I could bring her down and ploted an evasion course out of there at 1 knot, evading death charge runs beautifully till... one found its mark... from external view i watched the barrel sink down and 2 feet from my hull it exploded.... flooding heavy i smashed into the seabed and ordered my repair crew going but as most flooding goes, the repair crew does squat, having to rely on the in room crew to do the water removal and I sunk to the bottom... and she flooded through... The VIIB U-45 ended on March 29th 1940. :damn:

I try always to stay in water deeper than 100!

well that entire britain area has at most 100 meters, neer the end I managed to find 50 meters down and when i hit the seabed it was 55 i think... still not enough :P

But also toying around with Destroyers with only 50 meter under you is what an Herkaleun never would do....I would be at least at 120 Meter when I try to sink one and it turns out he is pissed off.

not that patrol, i think i ran into one, just couldnt find any at my patrol grid and just went down to see, and yes i was kinda stupid, I shoulda just attracted his attention and played my "Whos the bigger wimp" trick and had him charge at me then blow him out of the water at 300 feet

Can the Hunt destroyers hear the torpedoes propulsion through their Hydrophone, when the torps get close?

because When I fired one, I mostly go to the Hydrophone and I can hear my Torpedo so If i can the AI also can. :-?

The whole point in SHIII is to get caught up by 5 DD´s in 30m deep waters! :D I think I´ll leave the harbour photographing mission to someone else in current WaW. Too close for comfort that was. :hmm:

Oddly enough I started a new campaign and got U-46 as my boat, hehe i wonder if my next campaign will get me u-47


and this new campaign is looking bright, tonnage comming in, and have surpased U-45s 7 patrol tonnage in 2 patrols... :up: Il throw in my SH3 commander info when i get a chance :P
