Can't get out of Wilmhelmshaven..
I'm on my third patrol, Dec 4 1939 and everytime I tried to get out of Wilmhelmshaven something destroys my boat. I've tried going round the edge but as soon as I get out of the peninsula bit I get flooding, damage men killed.
Any ideas as to what is doing this? |
Are you using stock game or any mods?

You are hitting either mines or sub nets. Follow the lead of the escort. (The ship in front of you)

Open up mission editor and load the scr Zoom in to wilhelmshaven and have a look for a minefield IIRC there is one there |

You will have to go straight up middle of port exit |

Or simply remove the minefields/anti-subnets using the editor. The ones in the friendly ports serve no purpose in game other than making leaving port a major hassle. You never have your port attacked by enemy surface ships or subs so the mines and nets are useless to even be there.
So you can either remove them manually or I believe there is a SCR layer file that is included with the GW mod that has no Minefields/subnets in freindly ports that you can use if you want. |
I believe when installing GW it asks if you want the mine & nets in friendly ports removed.:D

mine fields
Does that option in GW remove only friendly mine fields or all mine fields?

Ah Yes
You maybe correct there, now that you mention it I think you have 2 choices removal of all mines & nets or only friendly.

Its WW2 and you are part of the German High Command...Whatcha gonna do?Thank God its only a game. Now you know what the U-boat crew had to go through in real life.

The installation routine has an option to remove *friendly* minefields.
The \SilentHunterIII\data\Campaigns\Campaign folder includes an optional file titled "GW_nominefield_Campaign_SCR.mis" which if used to replace "Campaign_SCR.mis" will eradicate *all* minefields - both friendly and enemy. |
