Do you have Win98/Me compatability checked in the properties?

For the record, the reason for the crash every time you tried to change course is because of the XP Service Pack 2 and Direct X 9.0c. Both introduced a bug that cause that problem after installing either or both. Since FS is essentially abandonware now, the only fix, other than uninstalling SP 2 and/or Dx 9, is to install FSP.
