FIX for Broken Mediterranean Sea V2

If you pay attention, SH3 does not swap seawater textures even if you cross from the Atlantic to the Med, Arctic to Atlantic, and vice versa. This is a broken feature in SH3. The same also applies to starting a campaign in the Med (La Spezia, Toulon). SH3 always applies the Atlantic seawater in the campaign mode, NO MATTER where you are located.

Using SH3Cmdr, I have come up with a solution for this. If you are currently sailing out of the 29th flotilla (based in the Med), my solution involves using SH3Cmdr to change the Atlantic seawater textures to the Med seawater.

My fix comes with a very minor problem.....

However, I must stress that it is a VERY MINOR problem, indeed. If you begin in the Med and sail out into the Atlantic, you will still see Med seawater, and vice versa. Which is no big deal, since you should NEVER leave the Mediterranean if you are in the 29th flotilla... And similarly, you should NEVER enter the Mediterranean if you are based in the Atlantic.

The fix is compatible with all major mods, including RUb, IUB, and Atmosphere mod.

DOWNLOAD the new FIX V2 at terrapin's site, in the mods section:

Since the fix has to do with SH3Cmdr and not actually SH3, you can't use JSGME to install it. NO BIG DEAL, just follow the simple install instructions.

Here are some beautiful screens of the Med. Hopefully, this will entice everyone to try a campaign with the 29th flotilla. :D

Great idea. Simple but effective.

Can Beery and I have your permission to consider including it standard with the next SH3Cmdr?

No. The mediterranean waters are only activated if you play as part of the 29th flotilla.

So far, I haven't seen much reason to implement the arctic waters. I don't even know why they are in the game... How often did u-boats travel to the north pole?

It might be arctic waters in the Black Sea, but other than that, where else could we use it?

BTW - I think it is possible to add more sea types to the three already current seas... Sooo, is the Red Sea really red? LOL :D

Really good idea, marhkimov, thanks!

You better throw out that atlas you are using... arctic waters is above the polar cicle, not in the black sea.... :88)

And since there were 2 flottilas that aimed at the Murmansk convoys quite a bit in real life, it might not be a bad idea to implement this genial fix there too. :)

I don't know of any other way to implement the Arctic waters...
