Fido Attack !
Actually managed to survive one of these for a change. Was hit, but limped the boat back to port.
Once in port the log showed a 20% hull integrity. Cool. |
That in theory search you propelles, it didn't destroy the back?
You are lucky.boi |

Oops, got cocky and got sunk again. :D Stopped the maneuvers to soon.
|
That's cool! Are you using GWX or LSH3-2015 or some other SH3 mega-mod?

This is in a personally modded stock install but to have Fido's in the game, one must have the H.sie and Stiebler patches (#9 at the link) added to their install. Stiebler is the patch that provides the actual Fido, but his patch has to be used with H.sie's too, to work. They can be applied to any version of SH3. |

I will check the files, should be in avenger equip for sure? Catalina didn't mount torpedoes, right? They were mined only in mono engine planes? |

The Avenger and Liberator had them in real life. NYGM has only the Avenger with them in the .eqp files but this is only with the Avenger files supplied via his patch; the core NYGM Avenger files do not have the fido in their .eqp files nor does the stock .exe file have the code. In other words, Stiebler's patch is required to get the Fido, for both the necessary aircraft files and the necessary .exe code. |
FIDO was an impressive project. For a handful of dollars thrown at an engineering organisation to come up with something that was good enough and could be mass produced.

How deep does a Fido go, i.e., is it still effective?
At what Uboat speed does a Fido not engage anymore? |
