Hunt for Red November

So, our British friends have completely dissolved their Nimrods with no replacement. Is this article true ?

It would be quite astonishing. I've read they should be replaced by 9 P-8 but I am asking myself if this is sufficient for a country for which a navy and ASW capabilities is so important.

So, it seems not only Germany has issues with its defense budget these days...

They had to scrap Nimrod to pay for the aircraft carriers they can't afford the aircraft for...

Pretty much sums it up.

@Hawk

The process of scrapping Nimrod commenced way back in January 2011.

Looks like they are taking a lead from the USN and scaling back the Type 26 before they even start manufacturing.

And then to pay for the aircraft too :D

They scrapped Nimrod as to be fair it was long overdue, massively over budget and the numbers to be getting procured were going steadily downwards.

It was a botched programme from the beginning. Typical of BAe Systems.

However they should of and could of funded a replacement from existing systems.

8 P-8s should be sufficient.

"Could of"? "Should of"?
