Which game should I get?

Hello submarine peoples.

So I'm new here, I haven't really played a sub game before but I've been watching a few videos and I'd really like to play one. The thing is, I don't know what to get.

At first I saw silent hunter 5 was the most recent game so I thought it would be the best, but it seems to have a lot of negative reviews.

Bear in mind graphics are quite important to me (especially for something like a sub game), but I don't mind installing mods to get there.

Welcome Aboard! :sunny:

If graphics are your prime concern, the SH5 is probably the way you want to go. I would suggest looking through a few pages of the Screenshots threads for each game. For many of us SH3 still has the best overall experience, with a fully random campaign and all four major U-boat types to operate and hundreds of different ship types to shoot at.

SH4 has a graphics upgrade from SH3, but more importantly it also has some control and management upgrades for the crew, allowing for more more variety and less hands-on management. With the 1.5 'Gold' version you can operate U-boats as well as American subs in the Pacific.

SH5 does away with the crew entirely, except to look at. Yes, there have been many complaints, but four years of work by some talented modders have rendered the game quite playable.
