OK to cut & paste MODS folder into SH5 folder?

Getting set up for sh5.

First i installed the jsgme app into the wrong folder, so i just deleted it and reinstalled it directly into my SH5 folder.

Already had all my mods in my "MODS" folder in the wrong directory so i just cut & pasted directly into my sh5 folder.

enabled the mods in jsgme, no problem. Loaded game, no mods working.

Do i need to allow jsgme to create the mods folder or does it matter? Trying to troubleshoot why they aren't working.

Thanks!

Bah

I now see folders in my sh5 folder for each of the enabled mods.

*edit* with accurate german flags mod there should be nazi banners in the hangar correct? Also, started a campaign with the tutorial mission, does this affect anything?

*edit edit* Okay so now i realize jsgme created the folders in the Silent Hunter 5 folder but when i look in the data folder for sh5 none of the files are there, so it didn't unpack them correctly.

Should JSGME not be in the SH5 folder?

It would be easyest to let JSGME create the mod folder. Make sure you JSGME is either in the gamedir, or the shortcut is set to start in your gamedir.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=192374 contains all the info you need .. altho tailored for a specific list, the info is more or less universal.

You extract the mod dir to your mod folder. Make sure that the structure is:
\gamedir\MODS\modname\data not \gamedir\MODS\modname\modname\data

Thanks man, i'll double check that.

So i deleted jsgme and the mods folder, reinstalled in the main folder which for me is H:ubisoft/silent hunter 5 - allowed jsgme to create the mod folder, installed my mods: trevally automated scripts, tdw ui's, torp speed fix, accurate german flags.

Booted it up, skip tutorial, standard sh5 flags in the sub pen.

Scratching my head...

Okay, reinstalled from scratch.

Getting problem you suggested: mods/modname/modname/

I can fix by hand, but wondering what i did wrong.

Probably not reading the JSGME documentation that talks about the folder structure.

Most mods are zipped, prepared for JSGME. You can unzip them to the folder you are in, no need to let them unzip to a foldername based on the zipname. This might be the default on your system, in which case you have to move the second folder one level up ;)

inside the MODS folder created by jsgme there are "hidden" files that tell it whats going on with the mods there such as saved backups and such so you shouldn't be copy pasting the folder but instead let jsgme create it then move the mods "one folder at a time" into it.

DO NOT do a "move all" or group move of all the folders at one time or you will be putting those hidden file into it as well and that can cause corruptions with the mods

Webster is correct....read his topic, here....it saved me a couple of re-installs.

Seconded!

Webster - ever since you posted your instructions on 'How to Fix Mod Soups Issues' ( http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...28&postcount=1 ) I've followed it closely every time when called for a JSGME reinstall.

Works like a charm. Everytime :salute:
