Alvin Lee Dies
One of the truly great guitarists of our time.
RIP Alvin http://entertainment.time.com/2013/0...n-lee-68-dies/ |
OH NO!!!
I loved Alvin Lee. Ten Years After was one of my faves. |
I always wanted to go to Woodstock and see him but never managed.
|
You always did? I didn't even hear about Woodstock until I saw the movie a year later.
Reminds me of when my younger daughter was three. I got her something for christmas that neither I nor she had ever seen, and when she opened it she said "It's just what I asked for!" |

And the performance that made him a legend:

Like many people who were not born in '69, I discovered Ten Years After through the Woodstock film some time in the early 80's. Loved that band, sad loss.
|
I'm not really into music enough to know many names, but still.
R.I.P. |
The Woodstock film was a blessing and curse for Lee: it gave him and Ten Years after worldwide exposure, but it also pigeonholed him as "the guy who sang that real long song about goin' home" (as a younger acquaintance of mine once said)...
RIP, Alvin... <O> |
