[REL] Bearing only for visual contacts
I found the temptation to use the WO's range estimations too tempting for my plotting. This is far more realistic and puts even more of the burden of plotting targets into the captain's hands. This mod is probably only suited for those already playing with map contacts off. Enjoy! :ping:
This small mod removes the watch officer's ability to accurately call out a range of the closest visual contact in the message box. Now when you ask the WO for "nearest visual contact" (CTRL-V)he will give you only the bearing and "range unknown" in the message box. (EDIT: 2/16/2013, I gave up on trying to make the message box give you "long, medium or short range." I'm sure there's a way to do it I just don't have time to experiment with it.) So you managed getting the WO to report "short", "medium" or "long" ranges.
Well done! :yeah: |

Thanks! Hope you get the ranges (short/medium/long) to work, I spotted some time ago similiar thread in SH 4 forums.

Are you saying that that with karlkochs mod enabled, my mod works as intended? EDIT: I think I misunderstood you originally. Are you referring to the message box or what the WO says verbally? I should have been more descriptive with my explanation of the mod. My mod is supposed to change what the WO says in the message box so you don't see, "range 2450 meters," for example. You only see a bearing. I'm also trying to tweak it so the message box also gives you "long, medium or short" range with the bearing. |
New version uploaded. Now you just get bearing and "range unknown" in message box when pressing CTRL+V. :yeah:
