Merchant Fleet Mod 3.2
Good afternoon, with a little help from jimbuna I found the Merchant Fleet mod I was looking for.
I read the "read me" but am having trouble installing it via JSGME. I am using GWX 3.0 Gold, and MaGuiF interface among other mods. Is there anyone out there who is using this mod willing to help a struggling "shipmate" get this working? Thank you. Scott |
You could have continued this in the same thread rather than start a new one.
I can't use the mod myself because of my computer specs, but it should be fairly straightforward. It might be better if you describe what you've done so far. That way we could have a better idea of what you might be doing wrong. |

Sorry for taking up space, Steve. I guess I thought if there was a new thread I might get answers because my question about installing it doesn't appear on page 2 of the thread and get lost in the shuffle. I tried to install the Mod last night and ended up completely corrupting a file "somewhere" in SH III, so I had to do a complete uninstall of the game, and start over again. So, now that I have a fresh "new" install of SH III, I have upgraded to GWX Gold (3.0), with JSGME as my mod installer, and SH 3 Commander set to run as well. My "plan" calls for installing these Mod's, but there might end up being conflicts that will alter. I had it happen a couple of different times, got about 50% loaded and then CTD, then got almost all the way loaded and CTD again. :damn:
Having to do a complete re-install was a pain, but its water under the bridge at this point. I'm looking forward to starting my career over again, and utalizing all these wonderful mods to make my experience just "THAT" much better. |
I wish I had a dollar for every time I've reinstalled SH3 over the last seven years. As for restarting campaigns? Every time a cool new mod comes out I want to see how it looks in 1939, so I start over. I've never played past mid-1940, and I've only died a couple of times. I'm kind of on hold right now, not playing seriously until I can get a computer that will run the MFM and New Interiors before starting over once again.

Yeah, I'll be started on a career, then see a screenshot about a new mod and then go DL it and start over, and over...and over. What is MFM? and what are the interiors you are talking about Steve? I might have to change my "list". :haha: |
MFM: Iambecomelife's Merchant Fleet Mod. Adds more that 70 new merchant classes to the game.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=170741 Flakmonkey's New Interiors. Adds everything but the torpedo rooms to the Type VII. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=162631 Both are very resource-intensive. With my old single-core rig I had to choose between them and the St. Nazaire mod. I like the working locks for the harbors and canals, so I made my choice in that direction. |
I had problems with this mod when i first installed it. It'd either CTD on start up or CTD as soon as i came into the game.
Then i installed the 4 gb patch and haven't had any problems with it at all. Start up takes a little longer but once in game it's as fluid and smooth as it should be. You of course have to have 4 gig of ram if you're going to install the 4 gb patch...;) It's a resource heavy mod so lesser spec machines might have a problem with it. |
Yep, I have 4 gigs of RAM, but I also have a 32-bit XP system, and the 4-gig patch doesn't work for me. I've tried the 3-gig switch, but with no luck.

Ok, so here's one for you. I forgot to install the 4 gb patch, when I did my fresh re-install. I added GWX 3.0 and now I can't install the patch. Here's where my problem comes in, on my Vista machine. Unlike before, I can't un-install the program using "add/remove programs" because SH III doesn't show up listed there now. (it did before this install). When I go to my start menu and go to programs, there is an "uninstall SH III" folder, but when I click on that, the Installshield icon opens and it "runs" for a few seconds and then immediatetly closes. :damn::damn::damn: How much Damage will I do to my system, or anything to just delete all files by sending them to the recycle bin. Any suggestions? I want to do yet another "clean" install, this time adding the patch before I start adding in all the mod's I wish to run. |

I just got the game UN-installed using the disc in my drive, and have deleted the SH III folders I can find, except where I have my downloaded Mods on my desktop. Time to start over and hopefully get this baby back up and working. |

Still having no luck getting the game re-installed. Beyond frustrated at this. :damn: |
