How many are useing this mod ?
Realism- and gameplay-related hardcode fixes for SH3.EXE
This is a fantastic mod that I can't seem to get to work and, would like some help on installing it. I feel h,sie and Steibler are too busy with other questions and makeing improvement to respond and, there's RL of theirs to consider also. :yep: Is this a mod that is tap danceing around the code and as Neals rules go you have to read between the lines to satisfy Neals rules and use it like the nocd crack ? I know this is asking alot but if someone would pm me and say they'll help I give them my email address so this can be done Offsite and, can give me a step by step on "How to install for DUMMYS" tutorial :haha: I would be so thankfull. Thank You to anyone who responds. :salute: |
Hi,

HI Firewall,
I am indeed busy, but as I tried in the past, I also try to help you. The patch-kit contains a step-by-step- manual how to patch and install. have you downloaded the patch kit? did you read the manual? please explain, where exactly the problem is. If you are afraid to patch it by yourself, I'll do that for you. h.sie |

I printed out the manual and followed it to the letter. First hint something was wrong was WO didn't go to Bridge when I surfaced after test dive. Second clue something was wrong when I could go Flank speed with Peri up and was clear as a bell. Also most important I install your mod first and alone to test. I would love to take you up on your offer to patch it for me but, would also like to know how to do it myself to help others so your time is more freed up for important stuff. I understand this mod is ongoing and takes up alot of your time. I honestly do mean it when I thank you for all your help. This Mod is a gotta have. :yep: |
I'll only be off line for a bit. So don't think I went AWOL. :DL

Hi FIREWALL,
Seems the file hasn't been patched properly. How can you be so positive without even having tested it? In order to patch it for you (takes 3 minutes), I need from you: * sh3.exe (original, unmodified) * de_menu.txt (after installing all JSGME mods) * en_menu.txt (after installing all JSGME mods) Please put them into a zip archive or similar and upload the archive to somewhere. Then, provide me the link via PM. In case you like my work, we can look in detail where your problem was in order for you to do it yourself in the future. h.sie |
I'm sorry I don't know how to upload . :damn:
Thx h.sie You've spent too much time with me and I don't have the skills to help you help me. I guess I'll keep rereading the manual and hope something gets thru to me. Thx Again for trying to to help. Nobody can say there isn't Excellent Support here. :salute: |
We'll get this to run.
I still guess the file hasn't been patched successfully. What was the output from the patcher script? Sorry, no compatible version of sh3.exe found or Found compatible version sh3.exe ???? |
Instructions for use (H.sie mods)
@Firewall:
Instructions to Use H.sie’s Patch for SH3.exe. 1. Download from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?xl5cjti32oof1uo the patch V15G1-Patch-Kit.7z (Do not download anything else that the website offers to you.) 2. Create a new folder C:\HsiePatch15G1. 3. Copy the patch that you have just downloaded to this new folder. 4. Unzip the patch in this new folder. You need to unzip it with the free 7z.exe or with recent editions of WinZip or WinRAR. You should now have these files in your folder C:\HsiePatch15G1: a) a folder called ‘Tool’ with 10 files in it (You need not concern yourself with these; just count that there are 10 files in it). b) HsieContents.txt (*) c) Hsieoptions.chm (*) d) HsieOptionsSelector.exe (*) e) Optional O2-gauges v2 (JSGME).7z f) Patch_SH3.bat g) Readme.doc h) Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME).7z (also the original V15G1-Patch-Kit.7z) Files marked with (*) form part of the Hsie Options Selector, which we shall use later. 5. Unzip into folder C:\HsiePatch15G1 these files: i) Optional O2-gauges v2 (JSGME).7z (File (e) above) ii) Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME).7z (File (h) above). You should now have in your folder C:\HsiePatch15G1 the following files and folder: Folder ‘tool’. Folder ‘O2-Gauges v2’ Folder ‘Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME). Also all files (b) to (h) listed above. 6. Delete the three files with the .7z extension (the original V15G1-Patch-Kit.7z, and files (e) and (h) above). 7. Locate your copy of the original SH3.exe. Probably it will be in folder Ubisoft\silenthunteriii\sh3.exe. You may have to search to find it. Move a copy of SH3.exe into some safe place (let us say, into a new folder C:\temp - somewhere it will not be accessed by any other program). This is your super-safe backup copy. Then move another copy of SH3.exe (using Windows Explorer or similar) into your new folder C:\HsiePatch15G1. [Note: this must be a legitimate copy, which has never been modified previously in any way. Probably it will have a date from year 2005 or 2006. The original Star-Force copy is now acceptable, also copies without any copyright protection, also copies from Steam. (EDIT: Forgot to mention that 'original Star-Force copy' means 'patched with Ubisoft's official 1.4b patch'.)] 8. Now we are ready to carry out the patching! Quick check: You should have these files/folders in your new folder C:\HsiePatch15G1: Folder O2-Gauges v2 Folder Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME) Folder tool Files: HSIEContents.txt HsieOptions.chm HsieOptionsSelector.exe Patch_SH3.bat README.DOC sh3.exe 9. All OK so far? If so, double-click on file ‘Patch_SH3.bat’. You will get a DOS-message which says this: “SH3 Patcher V2.2 by h.sie Searching for compatible version of SH3.exe..... Press any key to continue . . .” Press any key (eg space-bar). Then it should say: “Found compatible version SH3.exe (STD) Press any key to continue . . .” [If you do not get this message, then your copy of SH3.exe is not acceptable for patching, probably corrupt or a pirate version. Buy a new CD-copy, it is very cheap nowadays.] Assuming you have a compatible version, press the space-bar again. New message: “Making back up file SH3.old Press any key to continue . . .” Press space-bar again. Then you get a long file message, followed by : “Exit. Press any key to continue . . .” Press space-bar again. And now you return to your folder C:\HsiePatch15G1. Note that your copy of SH3.exe will now have today’s date on it, while you have a new file ‘SH3.old’, which is an exact copy of your original SH3.exe. (So you need only to rename it to SH3.exe in order to have your original SH3.exe file back again. However, do not do that now!) 10. Double-click on file HsieOptionsSelector.exe. You will see a whole range of ticked options (some un-ticked). Tick the options which you want, un-tick those you do not. There is a nice useful Help file which you can read too, which explains all the options. NOTE: Users of the NYGM super-mod should un-tick ‘Realistic repairs’. Users of the GWX supermod should un-tick ‘Silent-Running Fix’. Then click on OK, and magically all your options will be incorporated into your new file SH3.exe, whose date will have changed again. 11. Copy your new file SH3.exe (with today’s date) into folder ‘Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME)’ (just drag and drop it into the folder). If you double-click on this folder ‘Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME)’, you should see: Folder data Folder Documentation Files: a) CameraBehavior.act b) SH3Sim.act c) Sh3.exe (your new version) d) Four .dll files. You should also copy the file “C:\HsiePatch15G1\Readme.doc” into folder “Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME)\Documentation”. H.sie uses the files en_menu.txt and de_menu.txt taken from GWX. If you use the supermod GWX, then proceed to step 12. Users of other supermods (NYGM, LSH3, WarAces, or of stock SH3) should first open up file ‘C:\HsiePatch15G1\Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME)\data\menu\en_menu.txt’ (OR de_menu.txt, whichever language they prefer), and copy entry numbers 4814 to 4862 at the bottom of the en/de_menu.txt file into the bottom of their own supermod’s file en_menu.txt or de_menu.txt. Then copy your updated new file into “C:\HsiePatch15G1\Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME)\data\menu” to replace the original file. 12. You now have a folder “Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME)” as a folder suitable for installation with JSGME. (If you don’t know already how to use JSGME, then read the sticky thread about it on this SH3 thread at SubSim.) Let us assume that you have JSGME already installed. Somewhere you will have a folder in your SH3 set-up which is similar to this: C:\ubisoft\silenthunteriii\mods and you will also have a file: C:\ubisoft\silenthunteriii\jsgme.exe [Your path may be different from “C:\ubisoft\silenthunteriii”.] Copy your folder “Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME)” into the C:\ubisoft\silenthunteriii\mods folder. Copy the optional folder “O2-Gauges v2” into C:\ubisoft\silenthunteriii\mods. You should now have these file structures: C:\ubisoft\silenthunteriii\mods\Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME), and C:\ubisoft\silenthunteriii\mods\O2-Gauges v2 Double-click on JSGME.exe in order to activate ‘Supplement to V15G1 (JSGME)’ in the usual way. If necessary, also activate the ‘O2-Gauges v2’ mod. 13. Everything is now complete. You can now run Silent Hunter 3 fully patched with the latest V15G1 H.sie mod. Stiebler. |
Thx Stiebler and h.sie I will print out these instructions and follow them slowly and exactly. :yep:
My new Silent Hunter III is the Encore version that is StarForce Free and Patched to 1.4 OS is W-7 64bit Could the fact that I have GWX 3.0 installed be a problem ? btw what is V15F3 PATCH KIT ? Updated version ? I didn't install any default GWX mods in default JSGME that is installed with GWX or any other mods. |

Last time I tried it didn't like the original SF one bit. Will give it another go. Here's hoping for a better result! |
:woot::woot::woot: Thank You both for takeing the time with this lunkhead :DL
As I think you guys can tell by my subtle that we together got it working. And to all out there that don't have it keep trying. IT IS SWEET and does ao much for realism. I VOTE this as the best mod since GWX and SH3Commander to add to REALISM to Silent Hunter. And it works with all the extra mods I have installled without a problem at all. :salute: to h.sie and Stiebler For their Fantastic Support. I'll ask later about V15F3 :DL...:yep: |
@Firewall,
I'm glad we managed to sort out your problems, and hope that you enjoy H.sie's latest mod. V15F3 is the current 'stable' version of H.sie's mods. ('Stable' = No one has ever complained about its stability - so far.) V15G1 is the new replacement for V15F3, and is currently in beta-test mode. No one has complained about its stability - so far. The next will be V15G2, which contains a couple of non-critical bug-fixes for V15G1, see H.sie's main sticky thread. Stiebler. |

I would like to keep my thread alive for others like me that you both give great support to. Thx in advance :salute: FIREWALL p.s And I realise this takes time away from the important work and updateing your own threads but, I think alot of us lunkheads will very much appreciate it. |
