Just a few loose-ends..
I'm in mid-patrol, running GWX2.0. A few nagging questions:
1.) Aside from considerations regarding the soundman's efficiency, about how far can you expect the hydrophones to pick up anything in fairly calm waters? 2.) Also, up to what time compression do you think I can go without jeopardizing the ability of the hydrophones to detect a target or threat? 3.) Once an enemy has detected you, how long do they search around for you before they give up, assuming they don't detect you again? 4.) I've picked up that I shouldn't save when submerged, near a port, or when there are ships nearby; anybody got any distances on the last two? On a similar note, can I save when I'm close to land, but nowhere near a port? Thanks! |

1) I know there has been a recent thread on this. Can't find it though. Quote:

3) That's a good question, I would assume it's based on the crew skill of the searcher, and any other obligations they may have (TF /Convoy escort). If they are a lone ship, or HK group, then I'd imagine they'd hang a round for quite a while. I know I've been DC'd by escorts for 18 hours+ before, but they may have picked me up a couple times. |
3. About 45 minutes.

2) Depends on your game settings 3) Already answered 4) 50km....saving close to land should be okay as long as it contains no waypoints or objects that will be rendered on rebooting the game |
