Why would an American sailor get a morale boost from a rewritten perversion of a British song?

Here's what they really listened to.

Battle Hymn all the way! :salute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl_rl...eature=related

Sometime I serve "Sunrise"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18fgt...77F4827C28B71B

Usually makes the boat very quiet for a very long time... :smug:

My favourite military march of all time :

7th Cavalry march.

ETR3(SS) 10-01-10 06:50 PM

This would be the appropriate song to improve morale of a US Navy vessel.

Capt. Teach 10-01-10 08:01 PM

Personally .... I have my crew [U-51] do this on the deck after a successful attack [preferably in full view of enemy]. Seems to do the trick :O:

**Edit** Keep in mind they are in uniform, two lines facing, on deck :har:

7th Cavalry march.

Not quite, at least not at first. The tune is Garryowen, a late 18th Century Irish drinking song adopted first by the British 5th (Royal Irish) Lancers and only much later by the US 7th Cavalry.
