How to get type IX D2 deeper in the water?
Hello kaleuns,
this may have been asked by someone before, but I couldn´t find an answer. Is there a way to get the type IX D2 deeper in the water, at least a meter or a meter and a half? The Uboat is, for my opinion, too far out of the water. Is there a Mod to fix this; which parameters or files have to be changed to get the boat deeper? Thanks in advance, Kurfürst :salute: |
I used S3D...
open "Data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat9d2\NSS_Uboat9d2.sim" and go to node "unit_Submarine. unit_Ship. obj_Hydro. Surfaced. Draught" |

Thank You for the tip! What did you change exactly? Beste Grüsse, Kurfürst |
I don't do U-Boats...
But for my Gato-class draught was changed from 5,35 to 5,8. Looks much better, like loaded... out for war patrol... deep in water, heavy... :D |
Thank You,
I will give it a try this evening! Kurfürst |
Hi Jan Kyster,
your tip worked superb! I adjusted the value from 4.7 to 5.8 and now I have an Uboat instead of a Hoovercraft! :woot: I compared the result with some pictures of a late-war IX D2 and it looked the same. Thanks once again for your help! :yeah: Kurfürst |
Thanks!
Pictures would be nice though... :D Had a *long* time relationsship with a IX/D2 some years ago, brilliant ship! Happy and scary times! Now it's Gato all the way - USS Silversides as in avatar and sig :smug: |
[QUOTE=Jan Kyster;1395454]Thanks! :oops:
Pictures would be nice though... :D Here You go!:salute: These show my IX D2 after changing the setting in the sim-file: http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...d278/neu-4.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...d278/neu-3.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/neu-2-2.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/neu-1-2.jpg and these, just to compare, show U-873 after surrendering to the US Navy: http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...d278/neu-a.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...d278/neu-b.jpg For me, this looks far more better than the original "Hoovercraft" ! And once again, thanks to Mr. Jan Kyster for lending a helping hand!:up: Beste Grüsse, Kurfürst |
Yep, that's how I remember the IX/D2 - tiny! http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/biggrin3.gif
Looks good  though I would probably "lift" her a little bit... just a tad. Curious I dug up my old GWX backup (RIP :salute:) and see I used a draught of 5.7 meter. Found some notes too regarding a "Deck Awash"-command... perhaps you are interested? http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=159617 |
Hello all,
I´ve experimented a little with different settings and now it looks like I finally found the right one. This is the "standard" surface draught setting: http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/alt-1-1.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/alt-2-1.jpg and here is the changed setting: http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/neu-1-4.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/neu-2-4.jpg I´ll upload the changed file so that others might adjust their IX/D2 as well. Beste Grüsse, Kurfürst :salute: |

Tiny? Big and mean! :arrgh!: The modified file can be found here: http://www.filefront.com/16485441/IX...%20draught.rar Just unrar, put it into your Mods folder and enable via JSGME. Kurfürst |
Have you tested with the depthsetting in "boat.cfg"? I think it controls when crew is on deck?
One thing unclear to me is the submerged draugth. Must it be adjusted together with the change in surfaced draught?? Can't remember if it did any difference...? Quote:
Code:
IX/D2 USS Silversides http://www.uboat.net/types/ixd.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Gato_(SS-212) Have a nice day! http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/biggrin3.gif |
I didn´t have any problems with crew on deck, e.g. manning the deck, gun so far. The change in the sim file doesn´t seem to have any impact on that, as far as I can see.
