POSSIBLE FIX for connection to SH5 servers issue - Need Help Confirming
ok
like everyone else i was getting annoyed, so i started deleting things. i went through the logs that the game launcher itself generates and the text confirms i have an internet connection to the server. just the program seemed to be tripping over. so i deleted the temporary files it needs, and BINGO, instant SH5 game play! step one go to your Operating System HDD (not where you installed the game) for me on windows 7 - D:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\ you'll see a heap of files like 1267705803_3556_0.tmp (the numbers aren't specific, its the only .tmp files in that folder) delete ALL OF these step 2 go to the folder called storage and delete the two folders in there - one with a heap of random letters/numbers and another one called Temp DELETE THEM TOO! relaunch the game as you normally would. if anyone else has success with this method PLEASE confirm/sticky it until ubicrap fix this. i was thinking of the earlier trouble i used to have with steam not updating the client - deleteing one small temp file it needs to transmit data between your pc and their servers and it kind of "reset" itself with building a new file. its essentially the same thing i've tried here. once again, others PLEASE test it out and report if it works for you oh - and the BS about "no internet connection blah blah friggin blah" - it might not help their cause when their own software tells me i'm sure connected FINE when this message comes up. e.g. in the ubisoft game launcher folder - it generates logs. a few types. one for the game itself its trying to run another for "orbiterdll" - the one i fear that DRM all hinges around - reporting back to their server all the time "orbiting?" dont know just theory anyway - from the log titled "launcher_log" i get this 2010-03-09 03:21:31 [3640] [DEBUG ] main.cpp (953) : creating instance mutex 2010-03-09 03:21:31 [3640] [DEBUG ] main.cpp (960) : waiting for existing instance mutex 2010-03-09 03:21:32 [3000] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (312) : failed to open oldfiles.txt 2010-03-09 03:21:32 [ 592] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (289) : Testing direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:32 [ 592] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (304) : Successfully resolved static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:32 [ 592] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (316) : Successfully created direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [3872] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (289) : Testing direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [3872] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (304) : Successfully resolved static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [3872] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (316) : Successfully created direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [3000] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (358) : current version 0111 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [3000] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (436) : I have the latest version, no need to patch 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [3000] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (312) : failed to open oldfiles.txt 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [1840] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (289) : Testing direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [1840] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (304) : Successfully resolved static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:33 [1840] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (316) : Successfully created direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:34 [4084] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (289) : Testing direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:34 [4084] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (304) : Successfully resolved static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:34 [4084] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (316) : Successfully created direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-09 03:21:34 [3000] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (358) : current version 0002 2010-03-09 03:21:34 [3000] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (436) : I have the latest version, no need to patch 2010-03-09 03:24:31 [3640] [DEBUG ] main.cpp (1155) : stopping launcher so - it says im connected to your precious servers fine - but your crappy game launcher program tells me im not.... how about giving us a REAL error code instead of a blanket one when the program fails. if the servers fail that makes UBI look extremely bad. If its just this small application, thats an easier fix than getting in an army of techs to fix a server that isnt broken. |
it´s against forum rules to post a DRM bypass
Mud |
the DRM is still working - when i disconnect my pc from the internet, it wont launch, if i try and use an incorrect username/password combination it wont work either.
all this seems to be doing is getting the ubisoft game launcher back t sqaure one, it redownloads something from them and authenticates (as confirmed by the logs it generates) im not here to crack a game or whatever, i dont know how. and if an idiot like me can bypass DRM by deleting a temp file or two.... then their system is truly flawed. im not here to make trouble. just repeating steps that steam gave me a while back when the client wouldnt update. delete one temporary file so it can start again. thats all i've tried here. i dont want to cause trouble, and i know, im new here... i do support legitimate purchases - its why i've been going mad after just spending 109.95AUD at ebgames today and not been able to launch the game. I thought i was the patch but i only had this issue after it updated the ubisoft game launcher automatically. not here to hurt, just trying to help. if its not a solution..... then yeah, lets get some feedback from people over a week - yeah didnt work or it did if its not a solution...can the thread please. i paid for it, and i know other people here did too. theres a long list of replies to that connection issue thread.... only trying to help Cheers |
This isn't a way to crack or bypass DRM, it's just deleting temp files from the client, if I understand correctly.
Legitimate attempt at fixing the client, trying to force it to update. I haven't tried it yet though.. |
I know a Fix. And I'm useing my coffee cup to do it. :haha:
|
Well what the OP suggested was already mentioned here before, to prevent the game from stubbornly trying to synchrone your savegames even if you had it turned off (via the client)
So yeah, forget this, as Firewall says there is always the coffee fix :haha: |
Mud,
Do you work for ubicrap????? Someone here has a solution for big problem and you bla bla bla I am very angry with you, shut up !! |
I am sure you meant to say "you have as much right to post here as I do, regardless of how I am feeling"?
It was probably a typo in your post. Right? JCC |

Smoke on the horizon, Sir.
Can you identify it? It's a burning server, Sir. Broken class. Set course for it. I can't find the compass, Sir. Haven't they modded one yet? Yes, Sir, but they can't access the burning server to install it. How are we supposed to sink anything? The only thing sinking is the game, Sir. The cook wants to know what you want to eat? |
Now i am the doormat.
Okay it weren`t maybe the right words, but there are big problems and someone has a LEGAL solution. Lets stand for him. Mud, I didn`t meant it personally but at that moment i was very angry with the gamedevelopers. When you make a "DRM" system make it right. Now are very many LEGAL players who are made it impossible to play the game when they want to go to play. When somebody writes a problem, i often read you have an illegale copy. I can tell you i have a legal one and i have seen too many problems too. Today i had also problems with the connection :yep: |
Tried the above, but no tmp files in the game launcher directory.
Have the following log which shows its connecting to ubisoft. Deleted the 2 folders in storage and tried to reconnect Still getting the bad username or password though :damn: Guess there's no SH5 tonight then :down::down::down::down::down::down: 2010-03-08 18:39:42 [ 544] [DEBUG ] main.cpp (953) : creating instance mutex 2010-03-08 18:39:42 [ 544] [DEBUG ] main.cpp (960) : waiting for existing instance mutex 2010-03-08 18:39:43 [1452] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (312) : failed to open oldfiles.txt 2010-03-08 18:39:43 [1080] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (289) : Testing direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:43 [1080] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (304) : Successfully resolved static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:43 [1080] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (316) : Successfully created direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:43 [2044] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (289) : Testing direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:43 [2044] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (304) : Successfully resolved static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:43 [2044] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (316) : Successfully created direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [1452] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (358) : current version 0111 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [1452] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (436) : I have the latest version, no need to patch 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [1452] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (312) : failed to open oldfiles.txt 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [5840] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (289) : Testing direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [5840] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (304) : Successfully resolved static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [5840] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (316) : Successfully created direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [5760] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (289) : Testing direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [5760] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (304) : Successfully resolved static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [5760] [DEBUG ] HttpProxyConfig.cpp (316) : Successfully created direct connection to static3.cdn.ubi.com 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [1452] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (358) : current version 0002 2010-03-08 18:39:44 [1452] [DEBUG ] PatchDownloader2.cpp (436) : I have the latest version, no need to patch 2010-03-08 18:39:52 [ 544] [DEBUG ] main.cpp (1155) : stopping launcher |
