Calling Jules Verne ! (Cloudships to halt global warming)
Quote:
A bit far fetched to say the least but something in me thinks this is not a good idea :rotfl http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/env...l-warming.html |
I was kinda expecting massive blimps flying around, which would be a fair bit more awesome. :rotfl:

Bring back the Zepplin!

How come I see the law of unintended consequences coming into play here, should this fantasy ever get off the ground?

It's called "global dimming" IIRC. The theory has been around for some years now that the exhaust gasses from industry and traffic are causing the atmosphere to let less light through to the ground and by doing this impeding global warming....
But cloud ships sounds really stupid even to me. Quote:

Thats why clear nights are much cooler than cloudy nights. Oh and the 262 would have kicked ass...... if it had duration.. oh and that silly flame out problem.. and the explosive fuels... and... ;) |

1. The duration let a lot to be desired but it was enough to get up and shoot at your bombers. That's what it was meant for and it could do it. 2. All jets suffered from flameouts back then and the Me 262 had two engines and could easily fly with only one left (if it didn't happen on final approach where the pilot hasn't had the speed or altitude to react...). 3. Aren't you confusing that with the Me 163?:O: |
Climate engineering should not be taken lightly. I can see both cloud-ships
and chemical methods of climate control having the potential to back fire badly. |
